Description
Cosi and Gilbert are the title characters in the first of the White Iris Stories.
Miles from civilization within a magical garden, hidden deep within a dense impenetrable forest, Cosi the guardian of the forest garden and Gilbert the only human so privileged, live here amongst a wild and fantastic group of etherial folk who have always remained hidden from the rest of the world as we know.
Much like the unique Australian flora and fauna as well as some undiscovered plants and animals found nowhere else on earth, their idyllic life suddenly comes under threat from one of Australia's worst enemies - bushfire.
This is the story of how Cosi, Nanna Thyme, Borage, the Sisters and the Weedmen as well as Steve the kangaroo and Ramsey the wombat join forces and fight to protect each other when a monster fire threatens to destroy their home and precious secret of the garden from the outside human world.
With helicopters flying overhead, a fire chasing them through the forest and a lost baby to return to the humans, the characters race toward the safety of the secret caves, all while making sure no one is left behind.
Cosi and Gilbert is a story that encompasses a spectrum of themes from adventure, friendship, community and values all against the beautiful back drop of the Australian environment.
